Town and Parish Councils form the first tier of local government, they are of equal standing to Unitary and County councils but are better placed to deal with local issues. We are, however expected to follow strict regualtions as laid down by central government. As a result of a review of these documents the Parish Council has issued updated policies and procedures. Chale Parish Council is made up of six members supported by our Clerk who is also the responsible financial officer of the Council.

As of 25th August 2005 Chale became the 4th Island Council to achieve 'Quality Status'. This is a real achievement for the Council
