THE RECREATION GROUND WITH A DIFFERENCE

WITH A VIEW
Situated near the southern tip of the Island in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, part of the Heritage Coastline and with the cliffs of Blackgang as a backdrop the views really are spectacular. Not to mention the English Channel which sweeps past Atherfield and Brighstone all the way to Freshwater Gate, Tennysons Monument and the Needles Light House. A perfect place for a picnic what ever the weather.

WITH ROOM TO SPARE
18 acres of open space to do what you want kick a ball around with the kids or just stretch your legs after touring around the coast road. If you want to walk further the Coastal Path runs along the eastern boundary offering flat access to the cliff tops.

WITH FACILITIES
All within easy walking distance are The Wight Mouse Pub, 11th Century Church, Antique Shop, Petrol Station/Shop, Bed and Breakfast establishments and Camp Sites.

A HISTORY

WITH DIVERSITY
At present the field is used by various groups from dog walkers, fishing competitions (target casting) and kite flying amongst others. The main user of the site is the annual Chale Show, one of the biggest shows on the Island.

WITH A FUTURE
The one thing the committee are working hard at is to buy the field from the Council. We have been offered the necessary finances by a prominent local group to start negotiations with the Isle of Wight Council. We will need to establish a Charitable Trust to oversee the management of the recreation ground so that in years to come it will remain as a public area.
